Placing Combatants
Picture
You can place combatants from your reserves onto your grid.  The tiles from which a combatants can attack are highlighted on the grid when placing it.  Knights can attack from the front tiles, while combatants like Verdant Archers can attack from the back.​

Attacking, Defending, Life Points & Victory

Attacking
Using the "Attack" button will end your play phase and begin your attack phase allowing all of the combatants on your grid to attack.  Combatants attack one row at a time, first row to last.

Defending
You can defend against the attacks of your opponent's combatants by having combatants placed in front of them.

​Life Points & Victory
The attacks of your combatants that are not defended will hit your opponent's life points.  Reduce your opponent's life points to 0 to win the battle.

​Gold and Aether

Gold is used to play cards.  Aether is used to draw cards.
​

​Drawing Cards
Picture
Drawing a card costs 4 aether.  You have two decks, a domain and an action deck.
​

​Domain & Action Cards
Picture
Action cards are your combatant, spell and enchantment cards.  Before they can be played, action cards require of you to have domain cards in play.  You won't be able to play your action cards until you have played at least one domain card and the most powerful action cards will require you to have four domain cards in play.

Playing a Domain Card

Playing a domain card will cost you 14 gold.

Construction Time
Picture
Once you have played a domain card, it will have a construction time of 4 turns.  Construction time ticks down by 1 at the end of each player's turn.  Once its construction time has reached 0, you'll be able to play action cards that require you to have that domain in play.

Playing Action Cards

Playing a combatant card costs gold.  When playing a combatant card, you'll chose how many combatants you'd like to produce.  Producing multiple combatants costs more gold.

Aether and Gold Income

You get new aether and gold at the start of your turn.  See your income tab.

Capturing Expansions

​There are three different types of expansions.  
Gold Mines, Monuments and Obelisks.

If captured, gold mines will provide you with additional gold at the start of your turn.
If captured, monuments will provide you with additional aether at the start of your turn.
If captured, at the start of your turn, obelisks will deal damage directly to your opponent's life points.

Contesting, Capturing and Defending Expansions

Expansions are paired.  For each expansion on your grid, there is a matching expansion, in the same column, on your opponent's grid.
You can contest an expansion by placing a card in front of it.
Your contested expansion will become captured if your opponent is not contesting their expansion.
Captured expansions remain captured so long as you are contesting them.
